So if you are not in, you are definitely out; and iGoogle is in! At least for me it is. I have had iGoogle as my homepage for a solid month or so now, and it is still not boring. I: How? A: I have super cool iG gadgets. Now, you may be asking yourself how you can become part of this fad and not be bored with your iGoogle gadgets. Well i have the answer! Use the iG gadgets that I use!!! Here are my personal top ten:
10. This is a horrible way to start my top ten list, why?, because it is technically a game: Hangman. This game is really fun to kill time on and I guess you could call it educational because whether you won or not, it gives you the option to learn the word at the end of the game! The game is fairly difficult considering that you only have ten letters in the garbage bin before you lose and some words are fairly long and difficult.
9. Standing pretty strong at ninth place is: Date & Time. This gadget is here for sentimental reasons and it lets you know if you are spending too much time looking at crap on your super revved up iGoogle page. It has a pretty big analog clock on the gadget so that you can easily tell if you are killing too much time. It also has a handy calendar to let you know how close Friday is. As far as customization comes, you can select from about seven background colors and what day you want your week to begin on. This gadget comes standard when you begin your iGoogle page.
8. Hulu is positioned in eight place because it is the hot crave right now, hulu is all the rage. This gadget allows you to view the videos selected by hulu and if you do not want to watch those you can even search videos straight off the widget, without having to maximize it! You can even watch the videos you want to watch off the widget also, without maximizing. If you select “HULU” on the side tab, it will open up the the entire Hulu page as if you would have typed “www.hulu.com”. Overall it is a way to watch all your favorite videos without leaving iGoogle.
7. Standing at lucky number seven is: Weather. It is a very useful gadget because all you have to do is look at it and it will tell you how the weather will be for the current day and three days after that. It can also, if you so need, tell you the weather of even more than one city without having to click on a different link. Just add the other city that you care about on “Edit Settings” and you are good to go my friend! You can also maximize the gadgets on iGoogle by clicking on their names on the side tab. If you do this on this gadget, it will tell you the weather conditions for the airports near your city(s), humidity, wind, precipitation, and way many others. Very useful!
6. We are all fascinated with simple things that make life a thousand times better, and some of those things include tape and more importantly sticky notes, that is why Sticky Note is rightfully in the sixth slot. You can write things that you need to do and they are saved without having to press a “save” button. I really like this widget because if you place it at the top of your iGoogle page, then make iGoogle your homepage, this reminder will be the first thing that you see when you open your internet browser!
5. Weather Channel Map is on the fifth position. This gadget makes me feel like I am a meteorologist. It shows you current weather conditions in radar form, constantly moving clouds that carry rain, or no rain, are shown. It is a pretty cool gadget and very colorful. Along with the gadget on the seventh position you can tell if and when it will precipitate. Very cool.
4. Who doesn’t love video games?! We all do! So in fourth place is one of the biggest and most recognizable, and fun, games ever, Pacman! This game is super fun and a positive thing about this gadget is that it can be played on the small version that will be on your iG page or you can play in on the full size version just by clicking on its name on the side tab. (The farthest level I have gotten on is level 5, pretty lame but oh well.)
3. Now begin the top three and to begin will be the TwitterGadget! Twitter is effin’ HUGE and what better way to enjoy twitter than to put its’ gadget on your iG page. This is a fairly versatile app that lets you read your current feed, replies, directs, favorites, and the entire Twiterverse’s new feeds. Really cool app and easy to personalize and fun to mess around with.
2. The second to best iG gadget is Pandora Radio. Pandora is really cool. For those not in the know, it is a website that allows you to create stations based on your favorite artists, then Pandora randomly plays you songs that it thinks relate with the station that you have created. Then, if you like the song, you give it a thumbs up and those you do not like a thumbs down and they will be never played again. I like to keep my iG page open almost at all times because of the Pandora gadget that I have. Great way to find new bands or cool bands that you have never heard of.
1. Standing in first is: …………nothing. Well not yet. I created an IdeasbyMillan iGoogle gadget and i still cannot find it on the search so maybe google is taking its time to allow other people to get it. IDK, all I know is that I have it and it is super cool!!
Here are other gadgets that are on my page but still did not make the list: LyricWiki Search, Dictionary.com and Wiki, Eyes, Turtles, Asteroids, Menshealth, and Urban Word of the Day. Hopefully you enjoyed this list and maybe you will add some of these for your own iGoogle page!
