Valentine's Chocolates

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and most certainly you are bound to receive, or give, chocolates. If you are receiving chocolates remember that Valentine’s day is once every year and you can indulge on this date. If you are giving chocolates opt for buying dark chocolate if you can, they provide the most health benefits. Dark chocolates that have 70% or more cocoa have the most antioxidants where as milk chocolates are only required to have 10% concentration of pure chocolate liquor.

Pros and Cons of giving chocolates to your Valentine.

Nutritional value Pros:
It contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B11, (B12 in white and milk chocolate, due to the milk powder) C, D, E, and minerals such as iron, calcium, phosphorus, and potassium. Cocoa’s antioxidant Flavonoids help relax blood pressure. The cocoa butter in chocolate contains oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated fat which may raise good cholesterol.

In some areas of the region the weather may not be ideal for egg hunting but don’t let this stop you. Get creative! Hide the eggs indoors or if you want to create a whole new experience dye the eggs in glow in the dark paint and make it into a nocturnal egg hunt!

If you are the kind of people who always makes the same desserts, then reinvent them this Christmas.

Here are some suggestions you can use:

If your desserts are breads or cookies, then you can incorporate pecans, almonds, or even candy cane. Just incorporate this ingredients as decoration in your recipes. You can break the nuts or candy into little pieces and add them after baking.

If you decorate with frosting/icing, then you can add extracts of different flavors like mint, lemon, almond, orange, etc, to the frosting. The ideas is to use something new in your recipes that you have never used in previous years.

Give your kids a pet for Christmas. The best pets for children 6 and up are puppies, parakeets, and fish. Your kids will learn about cleaning, feeding and caring for their pets. It will teach them responsibility by providing daily feeding and maintenance.
