Take this tips into account before purchasing a new computer.

Before buying a computer ask yourself what you’re going to use it for.

All computers function the same, regardless of the brand. Many manufacturers today use the same hardware for their computers. Where you will notice a big difference is , first of all, the price, then the user interface, and last is, what the computer has to offer, as far as storage and speed.

Prices vary, depending on the store, the manufacturers brand, size and capacity.

The operating system is one of the big factors as far as the user experience is concerned. If you have never used an Apple or a computer with a Linux system, then you have likely used Windows. If you are the kind of person who does not like to struggle in learning a new system, then you should stick to using what you already know. Some of the Apple computers are matching the Windows computers as far as being able to use some of the most available programs, and now you can even use the Windows operating system in an Apple, though not simultaneous. What has not been matched yet is the price since you will have to pay good money for an Apple. If you are currently a Window’s user and want to change to an Apple, then be careful when you buy it since you will have to ask the sales person about the programs you currently have and the ones you would like to use in an Apple computer.

Lastly, there is what the computer has to offer as far as storage for you’re files, programs and memory to run several programs. If you’re planning in storing multimedia, like music, images and videos, get yourself at least a 250GB hard drive. In many cases you can pay the same price for a computer that has 320GB of storage for the same price of one that has 250GB, but with a few less options. For memory the minimum standard is 2GB. Do not buy a computer with 4GB of memory unless you are buying a computer with a 64-bit processor and system. If you buy a computer with 3GB and under, its a computer with a 32-bit system and processor which means you cannot use more than 3GB of memory. The system will not allow you to use more, even if you purchase it separately and install it on your own. If your are simple thinking of exclusively using it for the Internet, then a hard drive of 40 GB and 1GB of memory and a Linux system will do, like in the EEPC 1000, has everything you need to surf the Internet.

Weather it be that you’re planning on using it for work or at home, laptop computers can be as powerful, or even more, as desktop computers. Laptop’s prices continue to drop.

If you’re going to buy a desktop computer you’ll also have to consider the monitor. The monitor is not just a question of functionality and aesthetics, but also of comfort. A big screen can be easier on your eyes than a small screen.

Save the environment and buy yourself a laptop, these can have all you need. The average portable computer consumes 35 watt/hour compared to a desktop which consumes 150-350 watt/hr (the new ones average around 150 watt/hour). Laptops require less materials for their manufacture, will save you space, and not to mention you can take it anywhere, which in your house it means that you can be in the most comfortable spaces and save electricity.

In conclusion, do not buy a computer with more capacity or functions than those you need, since you will end up paying more and will never get to fully use all its functions.
