If you are the kind of people who always makes the same desserts, then reinvent them this Christmas.

Here are some suggestions you can use:

If your desserts are breads or cookies, then you can incorporate pecans, almonds, or even candy cane. Just incorporate this ingredients as decoration in your recipes. You can break the nuts or candy into little pieces and add them after baking.

If you decorate with frosting/icing, then you can add extracts of different flavors like mint, lemon, almond, orange, etc, to the frosting. The ideas is to use something new in your recipes that you have never used in previous years.

Reuse plastic bags

Paper or Plastic?  It’s a sure thing that paper bags are more biodegradable, but there is not much use fot them once you get home with the groceries.  Plastic bags are getting more and more biodegradable, they’re are being made with thiner and with faster biodegradable polymers.  Reuse them for your garbage and save on trashbags. This way you’re saving money and the environment.

Give your kids a pet for Christmas. The best pets for children 6 and up are puppies, parakeets, and fish. Your kids will learn about cleaning, feeding and caring for their pets. It will teach them responsibility by providing daily feeding and maintenance.

Television

Save the environment, save your old TV, and save your money at the same time.

Don’t through away your analog TV. On February 17, 2009 Digital Television (DTV) will officially begin broadcasting. Don’t wait for this date to get your TV ready, many television stations have been broadcasting in Digital Signal for a few months already. If you have Satellite or Cable, then you are set… unless of course you happen to have a TV in your house that is not hooked up to your subscriber service, then you will need the digital converter box for that TV only.

You have until March 31, 2009 to get your $40 government coupon. You can get up to two coupons, but you can only use one coupon per converter box.
